About This Project

This modular course was designed to be taught online, asynchronously. Each module contains several activities focused on a theme and tied to one or more of the course learning outcomes. The modules are essentially stand-alone lessons that can be arranged in various ways, or adapted for use in one-shot instruction sessions.

We originally taught the class in a compressed summer schedule, first for a 5-week session, then for a 6-week session. After that, we expanded the course to fit a typical (for our institution) 15-week semester. For the compressed summer schedule, we released either two or three modules per week; for the 15-week semester, we release one per week.

We built the course in Blackboard, our institution’s Learning Management System, but our goal all along was to make the class an OER so others could use and adapt our work. We benefited from other OER repositories for library instruction, like Project CORA and the PRIMO Database and we wanted, in turn, to make our work available for others to use.
